Advocacy

Our Focus:

Securing at least $500 million annually for Florida Forever and the Rural and Family Lands Protection Program — the annual funding needed to keep pace with Florida’s rapid growth and protect the lands that connect us all.

We do this through presentations during committee weeks, hosting Florida Wildlife Corridor Day at the Capitol, and convening decision makers at our events around the state.

By raising our voices alongside partners, community leaders, and policymakers, we accelerate the protection of critical connections before they’re lost.

Corridor Legislation

After decades of work from conservationists, scientists, politicians, and many others, the Florida Wildlife Corridor Act was signed into law following unanimous bipartisan support by the Florida legislature on June 29, 2021.

This law recognizes the Florida Wildlife Corridor as an existing physical, geographically defined area comprised of over 18 million acres, of which 10 million acres are protected conservation lands. It encourages and promotes investments in areas that protect and enhance the Florida Wildlife Corridor through the state’s conservation programs: Florida Forever (FDEP) and Rural and Family Protection Program (FDACS).
