(Un)Natural Geographies: The Maps of Ibrahim Miranda and Erin Oliver presents two international artists with distinctive approaches to cartography through the lens of Cuba and Florida.

Benjamin Dimmitt has photographed the Chassahowitzka River and National Wildlife Refuge for over forty-five years. Dimmitt’s exquisite black-and-white images reveal beauty, change, and loss. Yet these photographs also suggest that awareness and action can restore a landscape constantly seeking renewal.

Fine Feathers: Etchings by John Costin presents twenty-one large and medium-scale copperplate etchings of native Florida birds. From a soaring Spoonbill to an earth-bound Wild Turkey, these prints showcase the artist’s mastery of the venerable etching process and his dedication to the portrayal and conservation of the state’s winged inhabitants.

Two concurrent exhibitions offer contrasting artistic views of Florida’s natural environment, juxtaposing differing aesthetic styles and practices: contemporary high resolution color conservation photography and 19th century inspired landscape painting.

Through vintage photographs, contemporary conservation photography, and video, 125 Years of Audubon in Florida at Wild Space Gallery traces the history of the society from its founding in a Maitland living room to its notable and ongoing legislative and public successes toward the conservation of Florida’s wilderness.

This exhibition offers an insider’s perspective on the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation’s expedition along the western edge of the Corridor in southwest Florida. Through photographs, videos, stories, and artifacts, visitors experience the journey firsthand as the team navigates from strand to slough, highlighting the exploration and conservation efforts protecting Florida’s threatened wilderness areas.

Class Act showcases artwork by high school students from Blake and Clearwater High Schools who created pieces in response to Florida’s environmental challenges. After visiting Breaking Barriers: Nature in Focus and FloridaRAMA exhibitions, forty students produced paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, and ceramics addressing themes ranging from climate change and hurricane impacts to wildlife protection and personal environmental connections. The exhibition demonstrates young people’s engagement with conservation issues critical to Florida’s future.

Pond Apples and Saw Grass features paintings, drawings, and ceramics by Elisabeth Condon, Valerie Eickmeier, and Julie Evans. Inspired by Florida’s subtropical wilderness, these artists explore the profound human connection to the natural world, inviting viewers to engage their senses with the wild.

Natural Selection features renowned artists like Mark Dion and Graciela Iturbide in a collaboration between Wild Space Gallery and USF Graphicstudio. Curated by Noel Smith and Mark Fredricks, the exhibition highlights the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation’s mission to protect Florida’s 18-million-acre network.

This exhibition showcases photography from the Breaking Barriers program, which serves military veterans and their families. Using cell phones as their medium, veteran photographers capture personal perspectives that reveal both external environments and internal emotional landscapes, expressing themes of memory, wonder, curiosity, irony, and humor through their artistic exploration of the natural world.

Open Air features artists Scott Fisher, Babs Reingold, and David Waterman exploring Florida’s changing urban environment. Through painting, sculpture, and photography, the exhibition examines how rapid development and new construction reshape the state’s physical landscape, transforming both its natural and built environments.

The Nature of Healing presents Florida artists Genevieve Lykes Dimmitt and David Price. Through a dynamic pairing of abstract painting and bronze sculpture, they explore the power of art to engage with nature and find within it profound sources of wonder and solace.

This exhibition showcases the intersection of science and art at Archbold Biological Station, where researchers and artists collaborate on ecological studies of Florida’s ancient ecosystems. The collection features works by both scientists using artistic methods to enhance their research and artists drawing on scientific knowledge for creative exploration, demonstrating how empirical observation and imaginative interpretation can complement each other.
